Dr. Shoma Sinha

Dr. Shoma Sinha has a passion for science and technology as well as for helping others achieve their full potential. Shoma completed her undergraduate in Engineering Science – Nanoengineering from the University of Toronto. She then conducted her doctoral studies in molecular scale devices at the  University of Alberta/National Institute for Nanotechnology. During her graduate studies, Shoma helped  found the WISER (Women in Science, Engineering and Research) Network for Early Career Professionals. Since its conception in 2008, the network has had a profound influence supporting and helping young professionals develop their skills and explore career options. Shoma is now a research professional with Quantiam Technologies, an advanced materials company located in the Edmonton Research Park. She is also a co-founder and mentor of the MentorUP (Mentor Under-represented Populations) and BESTT (Bridge for Engineering, Science and Technology Talent) programs under the Alberta Women’s Science Network (AWSN). As the president of AWSN, she continues to enjoy volunteering with the networks varied programs.

Sinoj Abraham hails from India. Following his Bachelors and Masters degrees, he pursued his PhD in Chemical and Biomaterial Engineering. He was a post-doctoral fellow at the University of Alberta at AFNS and CME department for few years working on deriving biodegradable polymers from Canola Oil and Anti-fouling surfaces for bioengineering. He then joined Hy-Power Nano Inc. as a senior process engineer. He is one among the founders of a technology development and commercialization company named Polynanoinnovates Inc.  In 2013 he joined Ingenuity Laboratory as lead macromolecular and Biopolymer Specialist. Ingenuity lab is a newly formed, provincially funded laboratory, with the goal to turn Alberta into a globally competitive research hub, followed by the eventual commercialization of new ideas and findings.
