Cameron

Horvath

Cameron Horvath is a Product Manager and Technical Staff at Applied Nanotools in Edmonton, where he is leading the development of a novel chip-based gas sensor. Mr. Horvath graduated with a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering in 2013, and received a Bachelor's degree in Engineering Physics in 2011, both from the University of Alberta. During his Master's studies, Mr. Horvath conducted research into the optical properties of graphene and explored new methods for fabricating graphene-based optical devices. He has co-authored eight peer-reviewed publications and conference proceedings.

Matthew

Reynolds

Matthew Reynolds has worked as a Research Engineer for Norcada Inc since 2013, designing and building scientific MEMS devices for x-ray and electron microscopy applications.  Matthew graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor's degree in Engineering Physics (Nanoengineering option) and a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering (Biomedical Engineering).  During his graduate work Matthew was involved in the development of microfluidic lab-on-chip devices using polymer-based materials in order to facilitate the creation of rapid, low-cost genetic analysis systems.

Guillermo worked developing biomedical software for almost a decade, before becoming a software consultant. He then worked for APEGA as the Integration Liaisons Manager, before moving onto his current role as a Product Owner of automation software with General Electric Intelligent Platforms.

Dr. Leung is not really retired. He still works as a consultant in strategic planning, technology commercialization and international market development. His clients include govenment agencies, research and academic institutions, small technology companies and start-ups. As well, he teaches part-time at the Business School of MacEwan University in courses such as Strategic Management, Electronic Business, Business Negotiations, Supply Chain Management, and Operations Management.

His career covers mid and executive management roles in technology firms, including TRLabs, Bell Canada, SaskTel, and Bell-Northern Research.

 

After his first degree in physics and mathematics from the University of Hong Kong in 1968, Dr. Leung came to Canada to pursue his graduate studies at Western University, where he earned his Master's in solid state physics and Doctorate in biophysics. He also has an MBA from the Ivey School of Business.

Dr. Tadros Ghobrial is a Professional Engineer with a career embracing design, research, teaching and consulting. After finishing his B.Sc. in Civil Engineering in 2004, he pursued his M.Sc. in Coastal Cngineering from Cairo University while working part-time as a coastal engineer at Dar Al-Handasah Consultants, Egypt. He completed his PhD in Water Resources in 2012 from the University of Alberta. During his graduate studies he received many awards; of them is the Gerard Medal for best paper by the Committee on River Ice Processes and the Environment (CRIPE). Currently he is a water resources engineer with Northwest Hydraulic Consultants Ltd since 2012. He has worked or conducted assignments on projects in Canada, United States, the Middle East and Africa. Dr. Ghobrial is an active reviewer with the Journal of Cold Regions Science and Technology and holds the project management professional (PMP) certificate from the Project Management Institute.

 

Dr. Ghobrial is married and a father of a 2 year old daughter. He is a dedicated member and a leader of the boy Scouts and enjoys outdoor activities. He is a charter member of Toastmasters International. He has also managed many humanitarian projects aiming at educating young kids and delivering their basic needs. Currently, Dr. Ghobrial is reviving his French language skills and looking at spending more time with the family.
